EMPOWER-6G – SUNRISE-6G and 6G-BRICKS Joint School on 6G and Open RAN Technologies
From 20 to 23 April 2026, the projects EMPOWER-6G, SUNRISE-6G, and 6G-BRICKS successfully organized a joint online school dedicated to emerging 6G technologies, Open RAN, AI-driven networking, and network slicing. The four-day event brought together researchers, students, and industry experts through a series of technical lectures and interactive sessions delivered by distinguished speakers from academia and industry.
The programme covered a wide range of topics, including:
- ML-enabled Open RAN architectures and challenges
- Network slicing and xApp implementation
- Conflict mitigation in multi-vendor O-RAN environments
- Trustworthy AI for autonomous network management
- Resource allocation and optimization techniques for 6G
- Deterministic optical networks for 5G/6G infrastructures
The joint school provided participants with valuable insights into cutting-edge research and innovation shaping future beyond-5G and 6G communication systems while fostering collaboration among the participating projects and the wider research community.
