Multi-band CFmMIMO
The Multi-band CFmMIMO testbed is a versatile platform designed for physical layer research and experimentation in emerging trends in wireless networks such as cell-free networking, integrated communication, sensing, open disaggregated Radio Access Networks, AI-Native design, and multi-band operation.
Key functionalities include providing real-time and labelled data for all physical layer aspects, from raw IQ data to synchronization statistics, channel state information, and error metrics such as symbol, bit, or packet error rates. The testbed leverages free and open-source software to promote community contribution and reusability.
This testbed combines advanced hardware and FPGA-accelerated radios (USRP x410) with a data logging and labelling compute server. The compute server (HPE Proliant DL380) is closely integrated with advanced radio units and can quickly run communication functionalities. The USRPs are synchronised using a clock generator and distributor called Octoclock. Other notable components are a set of sixty-four modular antennas and a prototype mmWave front-end by Pharrowtech. The testbed also includes a motion capture system and XY-positioning for data labelling.
